AMC Prep
The American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) are structured to cater to students of various levels, progressively increasing in difficulty. It is segmented into three divisions: AMC 8 for students in 8th grade or below and under 14.5 years old, AMC 10 for those in 10th grade or below and under 17.5 years old, and AMC 12 for students in 12th grade or below and under 19.5 years old. These competitions are designed to challenge and identify young mathematical talents across a spectrum of difficulty levels.
Importance of AMC in College Admissions and Schedule
The AMC serves not only as a platform for nurturing mathematical talent but also plays a significant role in the college admissions process in the United States. As a feeder competition for the prestigious American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), AMC scores are highly valued and often equated with the "SAT 3" in terms of importance for college applications. Despite many students achieving perfect scores in the math section of the SAT or SAT II, AMC scores distinctly influence the selection process due to their rigor and recognition.

The AMC 8 is typically held in January or February, while the AMC 10 and AMC 12 occur in November, marking important dates for aspiring participants.
