Why should I take the AP?

AP exams are an effective way to increase a student's acceptance rate to top schools, and are the best way to demonstrate a student's academic ability and future potential. For top ranked college applications in the Canada, students submit an average of 3-4 AP scores, and students applying to top colleges in the United States usually submit 5-8 AP scores. In addition, AP scores can be used for college credit, to graduate early or to take other majors and courses of interest to you. More than 90% of colleges and all universities in the U.S. and Canada accept AP exams and award college credit.

Scoring

AP exams are graded on a 5-point scale, and a score of 3 or higher is generally accepted by most colleges and can be credited for up to one academic year of college credit. For top universities, such as Harvard, a score of 4 or 5 is required to transfer as a college credit.

The AP exams are held for two weeks in May each year, and candidates need to complete registration by March. The exam contains multiple-choice questions and some short answer questions. The exams are difficult and require advance preparation and review.
